When Clark reached St. Louis, just north of the town they set up base and named it Camp Dubois, where Clark trained the men who were unmarried, healthy and good hunters with survival skills.
As Lewis and Clark set out into the uncharted lands the journey begins, as Lewis and Clark meet up at St. Charles and embarks in their keel boat and other 2 boats. The heat, insects, and current of the river made the trip seek out the strength of the team's perseverance. On August 20, 22 year old Sergeant Charles Floyd died of abdominal infection could be caused by appendicitis. Charles Floyd is the only one to die on this journey.

Lewis and Clark continued on the river while taking notes, along with the others who had journals like Lewis and Clark, they discovered 178 plant species and 122 animal types. They consumed 1 buffalo, 2 elk, and 4 deer each day, with some supplementary items like berries and fish and roots. The geographic locations were named after members, peers and loved ones, over the course of the journey.

The adventure was mostly on river, also meeting several Native American tribes that assisted them in this trek to the west. Delaying the journey by a little bit, but helping the Corps of Discovery regain their vigor and vitality to endure what is known as the Rocky Mountains.
