The Louisiana Purchase

The Miraculous 4000 Mile Trip

 Louisiana Purchase

Thomas Jefferson bought the land from Napoleon, who was the new ruler of France. Napoleon got the land back from Spain and sold it to the U.S since they needed money to pay off their war debts. Thomas Jefferson also bought the land to prevent war since they are very weak, the purchase would expand the U.S size by double and make it more powerful.

The Louisiana Purchase went around for 15 million back then for 827,000 square miles. Before they even got the Louisiana territory, Jefferson asked congress to pay the cost of a expedition that he was going to send out to explore the uncharted lands.
